I know... that's the point!! The F'in grass was probably over 8" high. I had to cut it in the lowest speed (walk behind) and in the front yard I was only getting like 4-6 passes to empty of the bag. Must have started that damn thing at least 25 times.

Don't bag it, duh. Just start in the middle and blow it in a windrow, then pick it up if you must.
Gas Man
05-22-2011, 03:39 AM
Nope. I bag the front almost all the time. Only time I don't is if its seeding or something with the fertilizer. Further, it was so damn long it would have been like bailing hay.
Under stand that for the front yard I'm basically a lawn guy/freak. I have the most "kept" grass on my street. Well besides this week anyway. Lol

So just blow it in a windrow and rake it up. Don't have to stop so much and restart the mower.

You don't understand. He has to have the nice pretty mowed grass lines left in it. He even gets bent out of shape when ANY of his neighbors walk in it and mess it up with footprints. The only exception to this rule is the kids, he doesn't start the "You damn kids get off my lawn" speach till they are at least 16. Hell, he even started the "wave" pattern cut to add to the look of the "up/down", the "side-to-side", and the "diagonal."
I can somewhat understand as I hate when my yard looks like poo but I don't get bent about the walking on it after a fresh mow. Now ride through my yard with a bycycle and I may get a little pissed.
But that's his thing

Has anyone given any thought to where our country is going judging by the current crop of young people?
Every day I deal with a truck load of college students, who's mommies and daddies still pay for everything, do all their thinking for them and make all their phone calls. These 20 somethings can't tell me where they live or what their social security is and the list goes on. (They have to call their roommate, try to tell me they live in a PO Box or call mommy to tell them what they should know themselves.)
And every day I shudder to think that if these idiots are where our country is now, lord help us all when they need to have jobs and actually be a productive member of society.

Yeah but when you were 18 or older were Mommy and Daddy still paying all your bills while you sat around and got fat/high/arrested for stupidity? Were they still making all your phone calls, all your decisions while you didn't know your own address, social security or phone number?
At 12 I had a full time job and paid for everything I wanted except food at the parents table. At 16 I bought my own cell phone, with my own money, paid all my minimal bills and paid rent to my parents and drove a $500 car thats the one thing my parents ever actually bought for me. When I was 18 I had 2 full time jobs, bought my own car, knew where I lived, my SS, all the phone numbers for emergencies, etc. I was also able to hold a telephone call that didnt consist of "uh, uh i dunno" as well as hold polite social conversation in person. At 19 I bought my first house.
I mean really. I may have been an overachiever, but at the ripe old age of 18 (or OLDER), when you are living on your own, albeit in the apartment your parents pay for and using the free bmw they gave you, as a college student should you not be able to do simple things on your own? How do these morons even get into college or sign up for classes?!?

The point is, YOU might have been ambitious. But, in "our day" there were plenty of mouth-breathers.
My daughter just did a project where she had to interview different people that grew up in different decades. "Teenager in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s" and the last question was "How is your generation different than those that came after you?" The answer was generally the same for each

05-25-2011, 10:27 AM
Sorry guys, this office is old fashioned, we dont allow anyone to delegate, it all has to be done in person. On a rare occasion we allow them to do it via fax, but in general everyone has to come here in person, with id, etc to do anything. Therefore, they all gotta see me and 99.9% are like I described. I have to tell mommies all the time they cant do it, their kid has to.
Granted, I do deal with a lot of morons on the probation side...but thats to be expected...

For now I just keep my head down, roll at pace, and think of all the money I can make. One bad social year is putting me years ahead finacially.

I leave early nearly every Friday. I don't work a single weekend ever and never a holiday. I do get comp time on the occasional stint that we work past 5pm.
My job often sucks as far as subject goes. I mean I do shoot video of politicians but I took the job because of what I wrote above. I gotta live my life.

and yet you still own a home, have a paid off bike, just bought a new truck, wife has a newer car...
you make good money. it makes it easy to not work overtime when your base pay is nice, and it's easy to say that when you're time off isn't tainted with the stress of being in debt.
I know that a lot of it is personal responsibility with your credit, and my debit is my own fault. but trust me no one values their off time more than I do, I just have to pay this debt off so that I can afford to enjoy it.

That's true, but I also keep older things til I can afford stuff outright without putting it on credit. If my pay was a lot less, I would be the same way. I wouldn't purchase things til I could afford them outright. I didn't purchase anything extravagant til after all my college debt was paid off. I lived in a cheap apartment to build a back up savings faster before I moved into a nice one. I had the same old used civic to save money I used in college til I upgraded to a base model used toyota tacoma instead of going for a really nice truck. Motorcycles have been my one vice where I spent a little more than I needed.
The house is Andrea's, lol, I am scaling us back when we sell it and move to Chattanooga. Although we did save a lot going the foreclosure route.
I could definitely spend a lot more money than I do, but I choose to live well within my means. My means aren't the same as anyone elses though.

I wish I could say the same, but my job does require overtime and some call in work. Especially when the plant is in an outage or something bad happens on my equipment. I believe when I transfer to Hydro, most of this will disappear since I will be on projects/new modifications side of the house and not as much deadline pressure.
My job currently sucks hard as far as stress and subject. It's incredibly detailed and regulation oriented. Way too much paperwork. The job I have is hardly engineering, more like data clerk with a little engineering thrown in. Definitely not what I want to do, the new job should be much more interesting and getting back into true electrical engineering.

Honestly this bugged me. Not offended just bugged me.
Understand. I don't choose to work this. I do it to keep my job, my job requires this from me right now. It should change, it's suppose to be a transitional period. I choose to keep my job and the 14 years I have vested into it. I'm really good at my job and have earned respect in the company and industry. This really isn't a job, and I shouldn't call it that, it's a career to the max. I knew when I went full time, I would work here to retire from here. I knew this.
Am I dedicated, cetainly. We get unlimited PAID sick days. In 14yrs, I've taken NONE/ZERO/ZIP. Why? Cause I don't work at walmart as a cashier. If I call off, one of my co-workers is loosing his day off to come in and cover. I don't do that to him, and the respect is returned, they don't call off. Probably also why we still have tt privilege.
I work too much. I've been trying for about 3 years now to get a better schedule and for 3 years now I have been let down by others. People I'm trying to train to do my job and either can't or won't get "it". My social life then suffers but damnit, the company pays for it.
Would I like more time off. You bet! Am striving for that, planning for it, adapting my plan, onto plan G... Damn right I am.
There is always a give and take. I do work too much, get paid extra for it, and that allows me to buy nicer things. I'm not broke, but not where I want to be. But as I roll into the 4th quarter of 2011, I'm better now than I've been in over 5 yrs. Its an awesome, freeing, and liberating feeling. Uma & I knuckled down and paid off major debt this year with all my ot. So we are rewarding ourselves with some new carpet in the house. And the best part about it. We are paying cash for the carpet! I'm pumped about that. Cash!
Sorry. Had to get some of that off my chest. Perhaps it enlightens some of it.

Withthe side job its all large construction so were at the mercy of the needs of the job. Theres a lot of hrs to be had now so I am getting while the gettings good.
Debt wise we were not too bad, buying the triumph now prolly wasnt my smartest move but I will get it paid off soon enough, and my wife is a mess withthe CC's so I gotta clean that up too. Come march my mortgage will go back down to what it was previously so then we can start saving more and spending on soem home projects.

I wasn't taking it as a dig. I just wanted to take the time to explain my position.
I know what/how you want your job. But there is a trade off to be had. If you had hours/pay/money on a higher priority, you could also have more toys or do that house upgrade you want.
I REALLY hope that we can get this transition and cross training done by next spring so I can have a decent normal summer/life. With this new $13M contract we just picked up at my location we may end up manning the facility 24/7 instead of a walk away. We also may increase our crew from 3 ops (I'm one) & 1 LTO (lead terminal operator/jr boss) to 4 ops & 1 LTO. If we do that and everybody is cross trained as well. I want to go on the same sked Caveman is on. 4 man rotation 12 hour shifts. Work 15 out of 21 days (night & day shift swing in there but never work more than 4 days straight), then get 7 days off (28 day rotation), repeat. That is more days off all around and with that 7 day off stretch, it's awesome. Add in after your 12 hour shift there, not on call. WIN WIN WIN

Yeah, I hear ya too Gas... After this weekend, I'll be putting in apps like you wouldn't believe. I don't want to ditch the job I have... I like what I do and who I work with/for, but there really isn't any upward mobility with how it is written right now. I'm gonna start by looking for alternate part time work, which will do 2 things for me. A) get me some more income to pay off the debt I am accruing this weekend... and B) Give me somewhere that I HAVE to be after work, so I'm not putting in the extra unpaid hours.
We'll see how it goes.

One at the moment. The memorization part I have no problem with. It's the sheer bulk of all the information. I had just under 600 flash cards to get through this test, and it's the "easy" one. Something that saved me slightly is that I'm taking Medical Terminology at the same time and there's already a good amount of overlap that helped with some of it. Bring on test 2.

Ours was a basic intro type deal. List all the body systems, their components, and the functions of the systems. List the components of the cell and their functions. Types of tissue, location, and function. Some chemistry stuff, some chemical processes, lipids, phospholipids, cholesterol, ATP, and all that other chemically good stuff. Next test we dive into Bones and Muscles. I've got a very vague recollection of the bones from way back in the day in Biology, so maybe all that dormant information will spring to the surface. Or maybe I'll be generally retarded still.

Fuck man, no organic chemistry in CVT. Or biochem. Or any chem. Thank god. Chemistry does not agree with my brains.
it was physics and electronics for me, the only reason I passed in HS was the prof was a big supporter of our football team so he helped/made sure we got through LOL

Fuck man. I took Chemistry in my junior year of high school and scraped by with a D+, the worst grade I got in high school. I took it again in my senior year to fix that, and three weeks in, I was failing, again. So I dropped that shit and took the shit grade. Then in the first round of college I picked majors that avoided ever having to take chem, but it got me nowhere. Now, round two of college, and I have an actual degree that has a future, and wouldn't you know, I had to take chem, again. Somehow, I got a B+, but retained almost none of it. It's like water and oil. The info might be in there, but it's not mixing with the brain.

I don't envy you people at all for medical terminology and bone/muscle memorization. My sister had a blast with that shit last semester. Chemistry was fun, but hard.. I only went as far as chem II. Actually, the only reason why it was fun is because of my professor. I hated that shit. I'm just happy the worst I have to take on right now is subneting.

med terminology isnt bad once you get all the preffixes and suffixes down, and there are a lot of different pneumonics to help remember all this crap.
organic chem was tough but I had a good prof, and got in with some good people for a study group, we busted our asses but did well. General chem was a mess for me.

Hitler. I killed 20 million poeple & caused a holocaust on the Jewish population.
Devil. Good, good. Sit to my right.
Bieber. I poisned the world of music with my little faggy voice that irritates every normal person in the world.

Based on something I read in a English medical journal from the 1830s I elected to do something about my hydrocele today as the pain had reached an unbearable level. Ran a needle in about a half inch and have been amazed at the rapid absorbtion of fluid through the day. Might have normal junk by morning. One of the best things I've ever done.
Wait, you pricked your prick?
Balls of steel man
Wait, you pricked your prick?
Balls of steel man
Relax, My penis is intact. lol. the hydrocele was around my left teste. I used a strong flashlight to ensure no blood vessels or organs were in the penetration site and went for it. No nerves in the area so it didnt really even hurt. Ive been lugging that fucking thing around since junior high school, supposedly it will completely absorb within 3 days. we'll see. If need be I'll do it again. I'm tired of the pain and the awkwardness of it.
Now if I just had my girl back :lol

There comes a point where you risk it, especially for any pain in the dick/ball area. I had a big kidney stone stuck about a quarter inch from the exit. It didn't budge for almost two weeks. It was painful and it hurt like a fucking bastard whenever I peed or even touched the junk in the wrong way. I did some things to try and remove it that just thinking about makes me lightheaded and nauseous.

I wasnt sure what you meant in that other thread dave, gutsy move withthe needle. Obviously I cant recommend doing it, and if I was having it done would be rather anxious much less doing it to myself, and I haveput IV's into myself.

I passed a stone in 2000, worst pain in the world for a little tiny thing. My pussy ass would go to a doctor and get the doctor to lance me or something, I just dont go around sticking needles in my junk, its not something I enjoy doing.

Let's put it this way: after being stableish for a while (went from an egg to a softball over 15 years) it had begun to accelerate. At the end it was about the size of a large grapefruit. Peritoneal fluid completely filled the sack and ran up the inguinal cavity looking for all the world like a hernia while shoving my dick past centerline to the right half of my body and had started peeling up the outer layer of skin around the base. The testes constantly felt like they were being squeezed, pain cycled from dull to unbearable. I'm currently between ins plans and likely won't have any coverage till august. Id been trying to locate a reputable doc who would aspirate for cash when I found that old medical journal and said fuck it. Like I said I trans illuminated to be sure I didn't hit anything. Happy to report that less than a full week later I appear to have normally sized testicles and everything has tightened up where it should be. Only potential downside I've seen so far is output pressure is down when doing a #3. Kinda dribbles out but I suppose that's due to the pressure they were under and should return in time.
Id reccomend it to anyone

Dude, reserve select is cheap! Like, a tank of gas in your bike cheap. Go to the doc once and it's paid for itself easily.
Being a rider, that's one thing I would not go without is some sort of medical ins.

ok so since i've now given up on Liz and am offically in free agency i've been digging up old friends and trying to find some decent prospects, normal shit right? well theres this cougar I used to work with: tall curly brunette with legs for days who got out of a messy war related divorce some years ago and from the resulting baggage has some pretty open sexual habits. I very nearly took her to bed years ago when we were working together but I couldnt make myself cheat on Vic, so theres been all kinds of unworked tension between us. She and I both know that theres no way in hell we could have anything past an affair. talked and agreed upon about a million times. SO touched base last week and she starts talking in that direction. Has a guy but apparently they are both open, said I wasnt real comfortable with that and she talked me into it saying she didnt consider me fucking her as using her but more like settling an old score. set up a date for thursday and get a text an hour or two later saying that her cycle started and maybe next week. no problem and i forget about it. texts me on the way home inviting me out to make out and see if we still like each other. shower shave change and go to meet her at her office. make out a little bit and go to the bar. first she starts trying to psychoanalyze me which tends to piss me the fuck off then she drops the bomb on me that she was supplimenting her unemployment last summer by working as an escort (pretty glad for that cycle about now, cause I no longer want anything to do with her vagina) then starts talking to some deaf kid who looks like quentin tarantino and his gorgeous fiance and im bout ready to bounce. hang out for a smoke and then shes got to pee and shes shitfaced so i walk her back to her office and go inside to use the bathroom. make out a little more and she says something about wanting to have sex but its lady week and I say yeah but you used to call it something else (blowjob week) so she says alright cmon and drags me upstairs. this is where things go total shitshow, I try to kiss her and get her warmed up a bit and she starts accusing me of kissing her too hard and trying to fuck her like my ex, like young girls, etc. make adjustments, slow down, doesnt fucking matter im hearing the same shit. finally she accidentally brushes against my cock and remembers what vic had told her about me and says she wants to see it. So I pull it out she cant stop talking about how thick it is and she cant believe it and she cant wait to tell the other girls we used to work with (like duh I told her Ive never finished from a blowjob and that its never been successfully deep throated you would think she could have figured it out herself) and FINALLY she starts getting to work. goes too hard at first (looks like she broke some capillaries) and then anytime she starts getting a decent rhythm going she stops and starts crying or calling me a bastard or talking about how wide i am and its a good thing that shes on the rag cause she wouldnt be able to let me be on top and blah blah blah its like a fucking bipolar thunderstorm of shit. And at this point all i want to do is get my clothes and get the fuck out. get outside and smoke and shes still crying and saying she loves me and i just say look. i like you as a friend but following you upstairs tonight was a huge mistake for both of us and we should just forget it ever happened, she says what happened and i say good girl. get her somewhat more intact and she walks me to my train home. call Vic and tell her about my shittastic evening (we're cool exes now and tell each other just about everything) and then burn my shit with some alcohol based hand sanitizer. probably wont do any good but it made me feel better anyway.
Have a tenative date with one of Vic's friends this weekend. Very excited about it, cant go any worse, can it?
