Yup... and I wouldn't have bought any jap bike for what I paid for that.

and you wouldn't have all the "character" that your bike has either.

Mr Lefty

ehh my problems had nothing to do with quality of my bike...

the 1125 has issues with fuel boiling, the stock fuel maping... just to name a couple.

when was the last time the big 4 had to have a recall on a new bike? Excluding Yami's bs about the 17000 readline (that didn't effect how the bike ran)

I'm not saying Buel isn't a good bike... just saying they're not as refined as any of the Big Jap 4.

I'm not complaining considering.
I have had few to no issues, and this newest reflash is supposed to take care of the complaints that some people are having.

10-09-2008, 12:27 AM
uh... every 4 years? if not sooner... the motor from the 09 1000RR is completely diffrent from the 05 1000RR... shit I'd say other than the tire size, nothing else would transfer

different from the 05 yes, but how about from the 08?
and either way at least there WAS an 08 to build the 09 off of... there was no 2007 Buell 1125R.
Guess I'm just trying to say that they had a base to go off of. a starting point if you will, something to work off of and improve.
this is an all new engine, new frame, swingarm etc... all new.
That's tough to get right without any hook ups.
Yeah, maybe they should have waited a bit to release it, but I understand them wanting to get it out for the 25th anny. and they are being good and taking care of all the probs people are having anyway.

2 year warranty FTW.

Mr Lefty
10-09-2008, 12:38 AM
blah... the 1125R frame is based off every other buel frame... it's just made for the new motor. the motor is brand new... but it's still no diffrent than Honda, Yami, Suzi or Kawi creating a new motor every couple years... just because they were in last years bike and share the cc's doesn't mean they share anything else.

had they named the 1125r the 08 firebolt... it would be no diffrent than the jap 4's complete redesigns IMO.

the jap 4 just have more $ for R&D and know what works... they need to get it right the first time... and usually... do.

still don't agree.
firebolt frame holds like 3 gal. 1125 > 5.3 gal
firebolt swingarm is the oil res. 1125 has a standard oil res.
firebolt air cooled HD based motor. 1125 liquid Rotax motor

a jap "complete redesign" is like the 1125R to the 1125CR
lets see how the CR does and go from there.

Mr Lefty
10-09-2008, 12:49 AM
no... they redesign the frames too... look at my bike and the frame for the 03 ZX6R...

so it got a new swing arm... happens alot...

take the R6... match up the parts from an 05 R6 to the 06 R6...

the 1125R to the 1125cr is like the SV1000 and the SV1000R just stripped off fairings.

the redesigns in the big 4 are a more complete than you think. they change calipers, forks, roaters, wheels, frames, swing arms, motors, tranny's... ect... while still keeping reliablity.

plain and simple... I think the buell is a good bike... but they don't have the reliablity or fit and finish that a jap 4 bike does.

Dnyce
10-09-2008, 01:40 AM
No... that's not correct. The list price for the new R6 is 10K... the list price for mine was 9400... the price has gone up 600 dollars in the four years... which is nothing if you take inflation into account.

Anyone who pays MSRP or above OTD for a bike is a sucker.

13K is THREE GRAND over the price of the bike... they can't even do that WITH lube.

I walked out the door paying 1100 bucks under the MSRP.

way different market, and one of the 1st 09's at his dealer i believe. basing my info off what i remember dlit mentioning, not gonna actually do research for somethin that dont matter lol

I don't care what ANYONE says... there is no better option than to ride/race a bike that is cheaper, more reliable, has a SHITLOAD of parts both OEM and aftermarket available new and used, and is just as good or better performance-wise than the "niche" bikes. It's a no-brainer.

I agree, there is a market for buells and the people that ride them love them, so more power to them. You got to like what you ride and not everyone is out to be a racer. If you are looking for a bike to RIDE, every day, all day, buy a fucking Buell.

What do you know about Buell reliability? The XB's have proven all but bulletproof since 2003 when the first XB was released. A quick view of a Buell forum will tell you that plenty of people have Buells with some serious miles on them and only regular maintence to get there. I'm talking 60, 70, 80k miles.

Thats no less reliable than any Jap bike. Fit and finish? Depends I guess. Varies from bike to bike.

As for the 1125...of course it's not proven. It's a year old. I have confidence in the product though.

i am speaking outta turn on Buells but I have owned 2 Kawi's, 3 Yammies, a Honda, and a Suzuki. They have all been far from flawless and have their weak points and strong points. My Yamahas shifted like a tractor, The Honda had to many plastic fasteners but was overall well built even if it did have a cam chain tensioner fail, the Suzuki was bulllet proof if a tad budget (SV), and the Kawi's were really iffy. My Ninja 250, admittedly a budget ride, was poorly assembled and had crappy fit n finish, my 636 is fast as hell but the noisiest SOB I have ever ridden. The forks creek and pop, the body work fits loosely and has too many plastic fasteners, the thing shifts loud, and it sounds like I am carrying $2 in change everytime I hit a bump...

Honda's traditionally a pain in the ass when it comes to body work and plastic fasteners. Mine is the same way. Pisses me off everytime I switch from race to street. I agree with the SV, that bike is bulletproof.

Mine is still stock, nothing but brake mods (lines, pads) and it rocks the track. I have ridden alot on the street with literbikes and unless you have a 3 gear straightaway, by that I mean room for a liter bike to breathe, i can make pace with any bike. Usually working the gear shifter harder, but just as quick.

The only complaint I had was Trivium only played about 10 songs. And the crowd was going crazy during the show. Huge pit, crowd surfing everywhere. EVERYONE banging there heads, devil horns in the air... I just expected a little more... Especially since the opening act The Human Abstact wasn't there because their tour bus broke down. But the guys are extremely talented.
How long was the 10 song set? Did they play an hour atleast?

Yeah it was about an hour. Remember a lot of their songs are 5-6 minutes each. No drum solo or long ass guitar solos either, but of course because of their music complexity, it was really dueling and synchronized guitar soloing for an hour. :rockout:

I put close to 800 miles on my new bike in 11 days.

I also tested Cycle Gears 100% guarantee. I returned a Dainese jacket I bought like 4-5 months ago because I rode in it this weekend (I usually wear my 1-piece) and it sucks. Not only did they take it back, they also dropped the price of my new Astars jacket I swapped the Dainese for by $100 so I only had to pay $13 more for the new Astars joint. And it has a speed hump!

It was okay while riding upright and normal, but when I tucked, wind would catch the shoulders and the part between the shoulder padding and my neckline would flap around. It was fucking with my helmet, too. Hauling ass into a corner and my helmet is shaking around, fucking with my eyeball focus. Had to get rid of it. Plus it didn't even have a liner. It's one of those things where you don't realize how much you needed it until you do it, like setting up your suspension. For street, it's not needed as much, but they still provide great overall feel and responsiveness. The track is where they shine.

Two questions:

1. Does the 1125 have different lenth forks like the XB? Meaning..it's impossible to use a front stand that lifts from the bottom of the forks?

1. No, the forks are the same length, I just figured I'd get a stand to lift from the tripple to make tire changes easier. I already have a fork stand for the SV. I got the pins for both the 1125 and the SV.

That reminds me of back in the day when a buddy and I were high as fuck. We both killed a half gallon of cookies and cream ice cream in about 5 minutes. Just straight chowing down. No talking, just straight giggling and housing that shit. Damn, I wanna go back to high school!

Raw eggs in cookie dough can make you sick. That's what they say anyway but if it were really such a bad thing there would be a lot of sick people in the ER everyday!

I find them hilarious. Call me demented, but the gore is funny most of the time. In saw 4, there is a part where a guy gets both arms and both legs ripped off at the same time. I was in a packed theater and busted up laughing and I swear EVERY person in there turned around and gave me disgusted looks.

I wish my fog lights stayed on when the high beams are on. What is the point of that? Don't you want as much light on the road as possible? Fuckers.

My old eclipse used to do that same shit. But yet the avenger I had (based off the same platform as the eclipse of similar years) had fogs that would stay on with the brights.

I wish my fog lights stayed on when the high beams are on. What is the point of that? Don't you want as much light on the road as possible? Fuckers.

a lot states have a law against running your brights with foglights... it's an OLD law... Oregon limits the amount of lights facing forward to 4 on at any one time... so if you have different bulbs for low and hi and the low's stay on... then there's your 4. many have laws against using fog lights during day time and clear weather.

your right it's a factory thing though. it's usually one of the first things people "fix" on the tacoma's.

same with jeeps, you pull a fuse, bend one prong back and replace viola you know have fogs and high and low beams all on at the same time

I didn't realize how easy it was to mod to get the fogs to stay on no matter whatthe hedlights are doing. Remove a relay, bend a prong out, attach a fuzes wire to the one bent prong and plug it into the EFI fuze spot. The K&N intake howls nicely, too. I gotta get an exhaust for it now.

I never usually mod my 4-wheeled vehicle because I spend that money on my bike, but I had to jump on all the stuff for only $200. It adds up to $500+ if I bought all of it new.

What fuse do you bend? Jeeps wants to know is it a relay instead of a fuse? I have a jeep and would love to have the fog with high beams. It's dark out here in the sticks and there's always critters in the road.

It's a relay, not a fuze. Not sure which one it is with Jeeps though.

No Worries
10-27-2008, 09:49 PM
My friend's Chevy 4x4 has four headlights. When the high beams go on the low beams go off. We got a wiring kit off ebay that is plug and play. Contains the wiring, plugs, and relays. Took more time trying to get to the wiring than it did to complete it. Now the low beams stay on when the brights go on. Four lights now glow on high. If you don't use a relay, the wiring can burn.

In a past job, the boss and I use to argue about this all the time. It was easy to get an extra 8 hrs. of OT. The problem was that I only took home $27 for the extra 8hrs. If I only worked 4hrs. I made an extra $98 while he got shafted. We finally worked it out to getting all the hard work done the first part of the day. I would go home while he stayed for 4 more hours.
